Finally we are at a place and time where I can share a story with you that seems is well overdue and that I so excitedly mentioned to you in my previous post. I want to invite you to a journey that is going to make you smile for summer! Got it? Because it’s the name of the brand and right now it felt like it is fitting into the initial context so well I had to go for it!
With the duality of what can be experienced in this laid back town it makes it that much more tempting to hurry in finding that special someone to marry, grow old with, proudly reaching the age of retirement and finally booking a one way ticket to this locational gem.
I want this to not just be a well-written statement of what the brand and its contributors did when working towards what you can fabulously treat yourselves with today. I want it to be a mind-releasing, uplifting and at times low-key comic piece that can treat your imagination. Hopefully you get a valuable piece of information along the way for your own trips in the future which might also allow you to follow the right guidelines in order to get the most of it.
With an exhilaration of a lifetime in our bodies when starting the journey we were now on our way to one of the most popular tourist places at the time. Gorgeous city of Amalfi in the culture-rich and colourful South of Italy. As we landed and hopped in a pre-booked car that would take us to our AirBnB we found ourselves driving laps around a spiral of what seemed like a never-ending mountain road. Even though, the view was breathtaking and at one point we simply had to stop…for the sake of updating our instagram content of course and I must add, the content was EVERYWHERE.
I have never found myself taking so many pictures, boomerangs and videos in my life! Amalfi is an oasis that has its apparent naturesque aesthetic that has been created with the organically available resources that this place has to offer as well as with places that are sprinkled with a dash of glam(we need that too, don’t we?). With the duality of what can be experienced in this laid back town it makes it that much more tempting to hurry in finding that special someone to marry, grow old with proudly reaching the age of retirement and finally booking a one way ticket to this locational gem.
As you might or might not have heard Italy is a land of pasta, pizza and everything gluten…and famous limoncello of course. However, the beauty of it here is that this most deliciously natural gluten you could ever have is made with love in the maker’s heart and glass of wine in his hand (just because it’s Italy and wine is pretty much mandatory at any situation). Obviously that adds a bigger emotional value to the food everyone is greatly looking forward to enjoy making it an especially outstanding experience.
To get a pampering experience we headed to a recently re-invented restaurant in the hotel that once was everything that locals as well as people who visited the town were gushing over. The great Sensi Amalfi Restaurant that gives you more than a breeze of calmness and adorable setting with its gorgeous view of the sea when you opt for a table on a terrace balcony. The friendliest staff you could meet and food that easily satisfies your cravings.
A starter of mozzarella and tomatoes that are melt in your mouth you can feel are admiringly fresh and pasta in a tomato sauce that has been made with the exact amount of herbs and other natural additives to release the rich flavour that you simply can’t enjoy anywhere else. Not to mention, THE VIEW puts you in a state of daydreaming and any worries that you might have had become non existent. Can I take a vacation yet?
In a city that is best experienced when walking, we walked A LOT. And I strongly recommend doing it in any place that you might visit in general. Walking is allowing you to get a much more wider perspective of what the city is about and to absorb its essence. Any-who, while walking down the spiral roads at a time just when the sunset started to set in we luckily came across another fab place – a small but very cozy and adorable restaurant where its owner, a lovely, cheerful man, welcomed us with a joyous piano play that created an atmosphere of a heartwarming family gathering. Pasta (yes, of course we had pasta again) with lemon filling that had been made from scratch right there, right that day, I must say, what a spectacular experience. Maybe it was the man and his energy, possibly his great piano play and contagious love for singing or maybe just the wine but the atmosphere set a tone for a positive ending of the evening that made us leave with a smile and a warm goodbye.
What do I want you to take from this? Just be open! Explore and don’t set your ways for a pre-researched places when you are visiting exotic towns/cities such as this one. They are famous for their uncommercialised nature (well, mostly), therefore they must be explored with a spontaneous mind. Believe me, the last thing that small-city Italians do is plan and worry about how to go on with life. They just enjoy and God knows they are great at it!
