When summer has just laid its sizzling vibrations upon the surroundings you are in, it already has simultaneously set the tone for how you are going to feel from now on which is mostly FREAKING AMAZING because du-uh it’s summer!
The rule that applies when doing this search is that the destination must have access to a vast amount of vitamin D and also this place has to be good enough so that you could feel free doing absolutely nothing (because God knows you deserve it)!
We have heard from different sources that New York is a city of hustle, coffee (because in order to live in a city that never sleeps you need to drink a lot of it) and pretty much filled with energy from everything that’s going on and it is contagiously keeping you on your toes at all times. That is quite true as for me to relax here comes with quite an effort because you can’t help but feel a constant FOMO as people are doing something, anything all around you and you refuse to be left behind so you just do whatever would make you feel more productive. A place for future creators, if you will. However, there is a way to turn this around and find peace in this creative hub, I got you!
What New York is well known for are the rooftops. Sure, rooftops are everywhere and they are not a rarity but where else you will find a rooftop that gives you a 360 degree view of the city of dreams with Empire State with just mere hand stretch ( or a little bit more than that ) away. One of the gems I came across is Indigo Hotel on the Lower East Side. An area full of hipsters and greatest Matcha Latte in nearby Zenchai cafe that’s basically right by the hotel. I came across it as this was a place that caught my eye on youtuber’s [LivingBobby] video. It is a place which I found great to use as a co-working space to do my writing. This is one of my personal gems of New York as you can do work, sip Matcha and see the whole city right out the wide ceiling-to-floor windows. One floor up (where you can access right from the comfortable working space) is a magical rooftop where you have your bar (cha-hing), pool and plenty of cozy seating! Do your work and then head upstairs for a little pick me-up, cocktail, I mean. Practicality at its best, I say.
Another charming location for a calming stroll is Brooklyn’s Botanical Gardens. Nature is what calms us greatly and gazing ate the beautiful roses, walk past the specious fields that scream ”Tranquility” as well as cute, little pathways can make for a good early morning coffee situation heading there with the person you are traveling with. A little gossip amongst the trees is a great start of the day.
You can also opt for a Central Park. A MUST!!! It is so spacious, you will barely bump into anyone. Have a picnic, sunbathe, grab a bagel or Halal from the trucks right by the park (they’re good and makes for New York experience) and later in the evening visit the park again for a free theater, like Shakespeare In The Park that takes place there quite occasionally. I did say it’s free, didn’t I?!
The park is magical and so calming you will not feel like you are in one of the most eclectic cities in the world. Any F R I E N D S or Gossip Girl fans? Yeah, you know you want to go and take some photos by the fountain. Cultural much. Very much so if you ask me. There are SO MANY things to let yourself dive into and the most beautiful thing is, you can find any vibe in this city that you are after as NYC is a concentration of the world in one place. All you need to do is wake up, decide what you want to see today. All you will need is a metro card and my friend, you are set!
